About David Wertan

Thank you for taking the time to learn more about me and why you should let me help you with all your Real Estate needs.

I was born April 11, 1965, in Charleston, SC, to Harry Wertan (Retired Automotive Manager from Sears) & Linda Williams Wertan (Key Punch Operator at MUSC), also both Native Charlestonians.

I reside on James Island with my wife, Deborah whom is originally from Detroit, Michigan. I have an office in Mt. Pleasant and North Charleston. I specialize in the Islands, Johns Island, Daniel Island, James Island, Isle of Palms, Folly Beach, Sullivans Island, and also Historic Downtown Charleston and it surrounding suburbs like West Ashley, Goose Creek, Summerville, Mount Pleasant, Hanahan, Ladson, etc.

I believe that Knowledge is the key to my being able to provide the absolute Best Service Possible and have thus completed the extensive training to become a CDPE or Certified Distressed Property Expert and and SFR or Short Sale and Foreclosure Specialist.

I can now help my clients more successfully negotiate Short Sales and to avoid Foreclosure and have closed many of them recently saving my clients from having the foreclosure on their record. I can also help buyers obtain the best deals on Short Sales and / or a Foreclosure as I now know more intimately what the banks are looking for and how to more aggressively handle the situation and make it a win win for my clients.

I am a Leadership Charleston Graduate, Graduate of the Realtors Institute, and have Earned Both Investment & Residential Specialist Designations. I attend every Seminar, Workshop & Convention possible to remain on top of all the latest issues and regulations effecting real estate. Recently I obtained my 203K Specialist Designation to help buyers with the financing of foreclosures that need renovation work and want to finance it into their mortgage.

I have been recognized for my Successes over the years and was chosen the 1989 Young Businessman of the Year by the N. Charleston Jaycees, and have been Featured on a National Television Show & in National Real Estate Publications for accomplishments in Real Estate.

Owing to this Experience, Success and Knowledge of the Real Estate Business I was asked to serve as the President of the Trident Real Estate Investors Group and was formerly an Advisory Board Member to Financial Freedom Report, a National Magazine with over 50,000 subscribers.

I have learned a great deal over the years, a lot of which came from previously owning my own Real Estate Company, Property Management Company & Insurance Agency before Joining RE/MAX in early 1990 and then joining EXP Realty in 2018.

I purchased the RE/MAX franchises in Charleston &  Mt. Pleasant we had some great agents and we  enjoyed working side by side with them in the trenches. I recently made the switch to join EXP Realty and feel this allows me to better serve my clients.  EXP is the Nation’s Fastest Growing Brokerage and is traded on Nasdaq with symbol EXPI

I enjoy helping people and when I can help someone avoid Foreclosure and the negative impact it can have on their life long term it is very rewarding, or to buy their first home or as it seems more and more nowadays help friends sell their parents homes as they move on in life.
